Jesus and Your Faith
Lesson 1 Devotional 1

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”  -John 3:16-17

You’ve no doubt heard these verses before. And that can be a problem. Why? Because when we hear things too often, we can become immune to the power behind their meaning. And these verses are powerful.

These verses from Jesus do a few things. First, this is the Gospel. You might now that the word Gospel means “good news.” These words from Jesus are the good news of His rescue mission. Second, they define Jesus’ purpose. In just a few words, Jesus tells us why He came to earth in the first place. Third, these words are life. They show us the pathway to forgiveness of sins and to peace between God and us. And fourth, these words should motivate us to share this amazing news with the people in our lives who need it

Why don’t you take a moment and re-read this passage, trying to see it with fresh eyes. Let the words move you. Focus on the message, and praise the Messenger for His amazing plan that provided a way for us to be in relationship with Him forever.
